Wow, I started it.

When I posted last night that I was going to write a novel, I meant it. I didn’t know I’d start today, however. I’ve got 1/3 of my outline done and am going to be using a slightly modified Hero’s Journey story arc.
I told my wife of my desire to write a novel and we talked about how fast of a writer I am. When it comes to research papers and other university assignments, I can write really fast. I always have. One of my main reasons for doing the 30-day novel experiment is to see if I can write fiction that quickly, because in my mind it just seems like an entirely different beast altogether. Will I be able to string storylines and dialogue together with the same ease that I do facts and figures? Or will it be fairly easy, considering the amount of fiction that goes into some of my papers? (kidding!)
I guess we’ll see. My goal is a 50,000-word novel in 30 days or less. I haven’t set a start date yet, but it will be before the end of May so I will finish before Summer.
